Today's the Day

Mark and I had to get up around 3:30 to get showered and ready to go to the hospital. We got to Baylor around 6am. They put me in a room and asked me lots of questions as they typed them into my chart. They also started my IV and put monitors on my belly. At about 7:20 my doctor came in to check me said I was about 3.5 cm and then broke my water. He said to give it about an hour and see how the contractions are progressing. About an hour later they started me on pitosin to make the contractions more regular. At 10am they said I was at 4cm and my contractions were getting pretty stong. At about 10:45 I got an epidural. At about 1:30 I was at 6cm and 80% effaced. At 3:20 I was a 7 and 90% effaced. At 4:15 they said "lets start pushing". I had her at about 6:15pm. They put her on my stomach cut the cord then took her to the warmer to get weighed, cleaned up and suck some stuff out of her lungs. Eventualy they took her to the nursery and I told Mark to go with her so he could record her first bath and foot prints and all of that. They said I was going to stay in the recovery room about an hour but it endend up being about 2-3 hours. When they did wheel me down to my room I passed by the nursery where everyone was waiting for me and looking at Hayley. When I got to the room all I wanted was food because I had not had anything to eat since 5 pm the night before. I think I finaly got to bed around midnight. What a wonderful day!
